There are places that simply provide a roof, and there are places where communities are built.
Geraghty Park Hall is one of those places.
Set against the backdrop of Julatten's rainforest, rolling hills and mountain vistas, the hall has long been a place where neighbours become friends, ideas become projects, music fills the air and memories are made. It is where generations have gathered to celebrate milestones, lend a hand, share a meal, have a boogie, learn something new and simply enjoy each other's company.
Today, we continue that tradition with a simple purpose: to create a welcoming place where people can gather, create and belong.
Whether you're here for a community event, a workshop, a market, a celebration, a coffee in the pop up caf, a library visit or your first meeting with local volunteers, we hope you leave feeling a little more connected than when you arrived.
Geraghty Park Hall belongs to the community. It is cared for by volunteers, strengthened by local partnerships and brought to life by the people who walk through its doors.
Because communities don't grow by accident. They grow because people choose to show up for one another.
For many years, Geraghty Park Hall has been a cornerstone of community life in Julatten and this started in the late 1800's, early 1900s.
Built as a place for people to gather (eg dance and get married) the hall has welcomed generations of local residents for dances, celebrations, meetings, performances, community groups and countless shared moments. Like many country halls across Australia, it has quietly witnessed the changing story of the district while remaining a constant place of connection.
Today, the hall enters a new chapter.
Under community management, our focus is on preserving the hall's heritage while creating new opportunities for future generations. Alongside traditional community events, the hall is becoming a home for creativity, learning and local initiatives, workshops, cultural activities and the Bushy Creek Makers' Fair in September 2026..
Our vision is simple: to honour the past, care for the present and create a place that future generations will be proud to call their community hall.
Whether you've lived in Julatten all your life or have only recently arrived, we invite you to become part of the next chapter in the story of Geraghty Park Hall.
Geraghty Park Hall is proudly managed by the Julatten Edna Head Library Inc. (JEHL), a local not-for-profit organisation committed to strengthening community connections across our region.
With the community library based at the hall, we have a unique opportunity to bring together learning, creativity and community under one roof. From books and workshops to markets, music, meetings and celebrations, we believe vibrant communities are built by creating places where people feel welcome, included and inspired to participate.
Our volunteer management team works alongside community groups, local organisations and volunteers to ensure Geraghty Park Hall remains a thriving, accessible and sustainable community hub for generations to come.
We believe a community hall should be more than a venue. It should be a place where ideas are shared, friendships are formed, skills are exchanged and everyone has the opportunity to belong.
See you at the Hall?
